-Flexible usage ranging from little or no preparation to formal, pre-made quizzes by you or downloadable (see link at bottom)  

-PC- browser-based     iOS/Android- App Based
-No prep needed for true/false, multiple choice (using whiteboard) or ticket out the door
- Use nicknames or numbers to avoid FIPPA issues
- Downloadable results as a spreadsheet for pre-made quizzes.
Grade: C+ Simple layout, low “wow” factor- more quizzes available for high school.

Tips: Can be run synchronous or asynchronously throughout a period at students own pace.

     KAHOOT STUDENT


-Kahoot is a live, gameshow style class quiz that you create or use from searchable database. 
-Runs in any browser on PC  iOS  or Android.
-Students use any internet connected device to answer, teacher runs game on computer /tablet
- Keeps a leader board of top five students – more points for quick answers. 
-Exciting, competitive- can get loud.
Grade: A:  Students can make their own- save pics on a topic and make questions. Downloadable excel file with results- formative assessment for teacher.

Tips- partner students up for reading, Pre-print questions for slower readers. When making quizzes, download pics to use beforehand. ‘Ghost’ mode to improve scores.

      PLICKERS TEACHER

            

-Plickers is a simple, paper card response system for T/F or multiple choice questions using a phone or tablet. – students do not need a device! Teacher needs a device with camera: iOS / Android


-Students have unique cards to respond to questions projected on the class screen from teachers computer.
-Teacher chooses question on their phone/tablet, then students hold the card in the orientation corresponding to their answer:
-The teacher then scans the class with the phone/tablet and responses are tabulated.
Grade C+ : All questions need to be created – no database of quizzes. Result history available under “Reports”
Tips-Write letters on back of cards, hide students names with ‘graph’

ZAPTION STUDENT 



-Zaption allows for embedding questions into YouTube videos.
-Teachers play the video with a projector and students respond to questions on an internet connected device.  iOS app available but not necessary.
-Video pauses awaiting a response from students and results are tabulated for later review.
-Pre-made videos with questions are available from the website database or teachers
can edit questions into their own videos.
Grade: B: Interactive Youtube Videos- Free account only allows you to edit one video.
